Profile

Mwaka currently serves as the Country Treasurer at the United Bank For Africa (UBA), having previously worked as a Balance Sheet Manager at the same institution. Over her 13-year career, she has also served as an investment analyst at ZSICLife Limited.

In addition to her role as Country Treasurer, Mwaka is the President of the ACI Financial Markets Association of Zambia. In this capacity, she focuses on several key areas:

1. Ensuring that the Association fulfils its mandate to promote market development in the Financial Markets space, primarily through training initiatives.

2. Managing the association’s governance responsibilities and ensuring compliance with established guidelines.

3. Driving the association’s agenda and goals in collaboration with the Association’s EXCO Members.

4. Leading market initiatives related to the Money Market and Foreign Exchange.

5. Managing stakeholder relationships, including regulators such as the Bank of Zambia (BOZ) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as well as the Lusaka Stock Exchange (LUSE).

Mwaka’ s educational background includes an MBA in Finance from UNICAF University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Statistics from The University Of Zambia (UNZA). She also holds an ACI Dealing Certificate. Recently, she completed training as a Certified ESG Analyst (CESGA) by the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS) to support her interest in sustainability. Additionally, she has undergone leadership and governance training with the Institute of Directors Zambia (IoDz) in conjuction with When Females Lead and is certified as board-ready.

Outside of work, Mwaka enjoys mentoring future market leaders and is deeply committed to giving back, particularly in the neurodiversity space and through other CSR/outreach activities.
