Kofi Koduah-Sarpong founded Sarpong Capital in 2013 as a part-time financial advisory business. He focused on Sarpong Capital on a full-time basis when he left The Royal Bank (TRB) in March 2018 after spending six years. Prior to TRB he spent five years at Deloitte and one year at Standard Chartered Bank.
At TRB, Kofi was instrumental in establishing the treasury front office function, designing its workflow and control environment. He also served as Deputy Treasurer, managing the bank’s dealing floor.
Kofi has attended various training courses in Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income trading and Asset & Liability Management held by the National Banking College, Citibank and Exam Ready.
At Deloitte, Kofi advised over USD 1 billion in debt and equity transactions for Ghanaian and international companies, focusing on strategy and execution of fundraising and restructuring. His work spanned multiple sectors including Financial Services, Transport, Manufacturing, Healthcare, and Public Sector across Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Australia and the UK. He has extensive experience in valuation and M&A assignments within the financial services, shipping, transportation, and real estate industries. Kofi was part of Deloitte’s Global Securitisation Community of Excellence and Practice which brought all of Deloitte’s securitisation practitioners across the globe together to produce eminence material and provide a single point of knowledge sharing and transaction pursuit.
At Standard Chartered Bank, Kofi worked with the Structured Trade Finance team, focusing on originating and syndicating structured trade finance transactions in Ghana.
Kofi is an ACCA charter holder, holds a specialist MSc. in Accounting and Finance from Manchester Business School and a BSc. (Honours) in Accounting from the University of Hull. He attended Achimota Primary School (APS) and is a proud Mfantsipim Old Boy. He is a past president of the Achimota Primary Old Student’s Association. He is the chairman of his Mfantsipim Year Group speech day fundraising committee.
Passionate about financial, securities and commodities markets, Kofi enjoys problem-solving and knowledge sharing. He has guest lectured at the National Banking College, CEIBS and Judicial Training Institute on Repo and Derivatives/ISDA documentation for Bank and Private Legal Practitioners, High Court, Appeals Court and Supreme Court Justices.
In the securities markets, Kofi is a member of the Ghana Securities Industry Association’s (GSIA) Governing Council where he represents the interests of Broker-Dealers specifically and the financial markets as a whole. He also chairs the Ghana Stock Exchange’s Equities Market Technical Group, which provides recommendations to enhance the Ghanaian equities markets.
In the financial markets, Kofi serves on ACI Ghana’s Media & Publicity Committee and Chairs both the Education Committee and the Money Market Committee. He is currently leading the Money Market Committee’s efforts to draft a Money Markets Code to unify and standardise Ghana’s money markets and also develop a methodology for a Risk-Free Rate for the Ghanaian money markets.
